Ellie is a Dressage rider and BDCC coach based near Sherborne, on the Dorset/Somerset border. She offers lessons to clients within the local area and is also available to travel further afield for clinics and yard bookings. Ellie keeps her own horses, as well as those of her clients, at a lovely family-run yard near Sherborne, where she is fortunate to have access to excellent facilities. About Me

Background

I have fond memories of growing up in the Wylye Valley pony club and getting up to mischief at home with my sisters and our often thelwell type ponies! As well as helping at the local riding school (Burcott) on the weekends for extra rides under the watchful eye of Nikki Stevens.

After leaving school, I went to Moreton Morrell college, where I gained a BSc (Hons) in Human and equine Sports Science. This fueled my passion for all aspects of horse and rider performance, including psychology, nutrition and biomechanics.

Throughout and following my studies, I had the privilege of working, riding for and training with several top riders including Harry Meade, Paul Friday and Elder Klatzco to name a few. I have always had a particular passion for training and starting young and difficult horses which I have done both for myself and for employers.

Outside of work, I have always had my own horses. Competing my own and clients horses across multiple disciplines, including, BD, BS and BE. I have also enjoyed several seasons hunting with various packs, often introducing horses to their first seasons hunting. These diverse experiences have shaped me into a well-rounded horse woman!

I have personally trained my own horses from backing to Advanced-level dressage, earning regional titles and achieving national placings along the way. Currently, I have one Advanced-level horse and a few promising young horses that will keep me busy once I return to riding following the impending birth of my first child.

I offer freelance services including, riding, Schooling, competing as well as problem solving/behavioral training. As a sympathetic and quiet rider, I have extensive experience working with young and challenging horses.

While I specialise in training horses for dressage competition, I work with a diverse range of clients and horses. I take pride in tailoring training programmes to suit the unique needs of each horse-and-rider combination. Including, 'bombproof' training, groundwork, schooling for a more polite hack, schooling for jumping and schooling for a more confident horse and rider partnership. I enjoy thinking outside the box with training to achieve the best results.
